is a perfect local island in Noonu Atoll
, Maldives. There is everything we want from the Maldives, - white sand, palms hanging over the water, clear azure water and even two bikini beaches in different sides of the island! There are almost no people ashore, since locals don't need a beach, while number of tourists is limited on the island. There is a superb home reef, so you can save a lot on diving tours. There is also an uninhabited sandbank located a little to the north, but tours are very expensive (from US$250 per boat). Some plastic trash comes from the ocean, but this is common for all of the Maldives. In the resorts, personal makes regular cleanups, but in local islands, nobody cares about it. There are several shops on the island with a basic choice of food and goods. Shore and seabed: sand.
Hotels  Sabba Summer Suite
is the only hotel on the island (room from US$80 per night). The property is reasonably priced - for the local island. Meals suggested at the hotel and its cost are also the same as on other local islands.
The hotel also meets guests at Male Airport helping with transfers - if needed. Usually everything is Ok. But if the problem occurs, the hotel tries to make their best to solve all possible issues.
How to get there
Fly to Maldives international airport (MLE)
. Next use one of the three options suggested by the hotel (don't even try to travel on your own):
- flight from Male to Ifuru airport during 40 minutes, - followed by 35 minutes ride to Fodhdhoo island by Sabba Faiymini
- or speedboat (3 hours, US$300 per person for the round trip), - departure from Male on Saturday, Monday and Thursday at 7 am, departure back from Fodhdhoo at 1 pm;
- or speedboat from Male to Velidhoo island (3 hours per way) and next another boat to Fodhdhoo island (20-30 minutes).
When to go
The best time to relax on Fodhdhoo Island is a dry season from mid-December to April. The rest of time is good as well, - but most days are rainy, while ocean is choppy making speedboat journeys to be very uncomfortable.
