Playa Blancarena beach

Playa Blancarena is a great beach in the eastern suburbs of Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay. The sand is pleasant, while trees give good shade. Entry into the water is smooth, and swimming is comfortable without strong waves. During the low tide, the water goes away exposing the sandbanks. There are no hotels in Blanca Arena. However, in Britopolis town located 2 km to the east, there are several good hotels with rooms' rates starting from US$60 per night.

Fly to Montevideo international airport (MVD). Next get by bus or hire a taxi.

When to go [edit]

The best time for a beach holiday in Uruguay are January and February. Since sea water is very cold the rest of the year.
