Kiwayu island

Kiwayu is a paradise island in Kenya located not far from the border with Somalia. So it is completely secluded with beautiful beaches. In 2011, gunmen attacked a family couple vacationing in an expensive resort. Moreover, even the local fishermen often suffer from armed robberies. In a better times, there was a luxury eco-hotel in Kiwayu, but now it is closed for an indefinite period. The nearest hotels are located a little to the south in the island of Lamu.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to Nairobi international airport (NBO), next fly to Lamu airport (LAU). Then hire a water taxi.

When to go [edit]

The best time for relaxing on the beaches of Kiwayu island is a dry season from June to April.
