Motu Tiapaa beach
  Ultimate guide (October 2025)
Motu Tiapaa is a small islet in the south of
Maupiti atoll, French Polynesia. By the way, the place is quite inhabited. There are also dogs running everywhere, so it may be not very comfortable for you. Anyway, this is a true tropical paradise to feel happy at the edge of the Earth. The sand is mixed with broken corals, - like in most of coral islands. This is not the best option. But everything is not so bad, so it is possible to swim almost everywhere. There is also good snorkeling right near the coastline with occasional manta rays. It is best to stay here for 2-3 nights, else you will probably feel boring. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Strange, but there are many hotels for such a small island, - with
Pension Papahani being the most famous. Technically, these are not hotels at all, but just basic guesthouses (usually quite decent). Online booking is often not possible. So you will probably have to book via small French or US agencies. But in general, it is not a problem. Sometimes the host may forget to meet you at Maupiti Airport. This is Polynesia :)

How to get there [edit]
 Fly to the
airport of Bora Bora (BOB), next fly to
Maupiti airport (MAU).
There are also direct flights from Tahiti island and even from Raiatea island. Once you are in Maupiti, free boat of Air Tahiti will deliver you to the main island of the atoll. Please also note, that many hotels provide for their guests free transfer from the airport.
