Petit Tabac island

Petit Tabac is the main pirate island in the Caribbean (Tobago Cays islands, Grenadines). It is also known as Jack Sparrow Island, because a notable episode of Pirates of the Caribbean (2003) was filmed here. The island itself is very good - with palms, white sand and great snorkeling on the home reef. Entry into the water is mostly rocky, but there are also few sandy areas with perfectly clear water on the shallows. It is better to get here on a sunny day without a wind. There are no hotels in the group of Tobago Cays. The nearest hotels are located on Mayreau island.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to Saint Vincent international airport (SVD) or fly to Barbados international airport (BGI). Next fly to Union island airport (UNI). Get by boat to the Mayreau island, and next take a water taxi to the islets of Tobago Cays.

Tours to Tobago Cays are also available from Union Island, as well as from any other islands of Grenadines. However, a journey from the remoted islands may take few hours per way - over choppy open ocean.

The best time for a beach holiday in Petit Tabac island is a dry season from December to May.
