Airlie beach

Airlie is a a popular beach town. For backpackers it's the main entry point to Whitehaven - the most famous beach in Australia. However, Airlie Beach is also a remarkable place. Artificial lagoon, worth a luxury hotel, attracts budget travelers from all over the world. As a result we've got something like Australian copy of Ibiza with youth hangouts and discos. Those who are looking for something cheaper should understand that all of the campsites starts from US$40 per person per night, and all of them are located very far from the Lagoon.

Fly to Whitsunday Coast Airport (PPP) of Proserpine town. Next hire a taxi or take a bus.

When to go [edit]

Whitsunday Coast climate is rather complicated. There is a rainy season from January to May, while the sea water is very cold from June to September. Thus a period from October to December is the only time with comfortable weather.
