Huatean beach

Huatean is a beach in the south of Phangan island, Thailand. It's located near marina called Huatean Pier. The beach is scenic enough, but it's more suitable for walking. As for the swimming, it's still possible, but not very comfortable. The main problem is that the water is shallow and muddy. Shore and seabed: sand. [edit]

In the hotels of Huatean beach, rooms' fares range from US$20 to US$50 per night. There is a great choice of cozy beach bungalows. Conditions are not luxury, but location near the water's edge is superb!

How to get there [edit]

You may get from Bangkok to Phangan island by Lomprayah high-speed catamaran. But the best is to fly to Samui island, and next get by ferry from Maenam beach to Phangan island.

There are two options to fly from Bangkok to Samui:

1. Direct flight to Samui Airport (USM). This way is most convenient, but also the most expensive.

2. Fly to Surat Thani airport (URT) by AirAsia low-coster. Then get by taxi (1200 bahts) to Donsak Pier. Then get to Samui by any ferry (Raja ferry is the best, but other services are also good). It is the best value for money way of getting to Koh Samui, but takes a little longer time, as the road from Suratthani airport to Samui takes a few hours.

When to go [edit]

The best time for a beach holiday in Pha-ngan island is a dry season from January to April, as well as second dry season from June to September.
