is a popular beach on the Caribbean coast of Dominican Republic
. This is a perfect tourist destination with luxury resorts, palms and white sand. If you want to escape from the crowd, you can walk to the left. The coast will become more secluded or even completely wild. If you walk far away, the water's edge will become mostly rocky, but the seabed is still sandy everywhere. Sea water is warm even in winter, since this is the south of the island. As a bonus, Cotubanamá peninsula effectively protects shore against algae, that brings from the Atlantic to the east coast of all Caribbean islands. Important! The coastline is overdeveloped with expensive resorts. Thus the place is not looks luxury enough. Definitely, Punta Cana is more upscale destination. Moreover, even some low key Dominican beaches are much more cozy if compared with Playa Dominicus. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.
Rooms' fares in the hotels of Playa Dominicus starts from US$40. Room in a decent beachfront resort is US$150+ per night. However, you should think about Punta Cana, if you want to get good choice of high end accommodation options (US$500+ per night).
On the other side, you are looking for something very cheap, the neighboring village of Bayahibe (half an hour walk to Dominicus) may offer a lot of budget guesthouses with rooms starting from as low as US$20 per night.
However, you must clearly understand one thing. To avoid disappointment, you should choose a beachfront resort in Playa Dominicus! Otherwise, you can only use bad areas of the coastline. Nor matter if it is a public beach or wild beaches to the east. All of these are rather mediocre.

When to go
Feel free to relax in Dominicana any time of year. The sea is warmest in summer, but the heat is the most intense as well. And there is also a hurricane season from June to October. On the other side, the winter weather is more comfortable, but seawater at the northern coast is too cold that time.
